Vitra AKARI BB3-33S floor lamp

Akari BB3-33S belongs to the Akari Light Sculptures that Isamu Noguchi began designing in 1951, with a wide, curved washi paper shade raised on a tall stem. Each lamp is crafted by hand in the traditional family-run Ozeki workshop in Gifu, Japan, where bamboo rods are stretched across Noguchi's original wooden forms and covered with washi paper made from mulberry bark. The paper softens electric light into a warm glow that Noguchi likened to the light of the sun.
